日本国内最古、
２万６千年前の人骨発見!!

Japan’s oldest human bones discovered dating back 26000 years,

in the construction site of the new Ishigaki airport.

　２００７年、石垣島の新空港工事の着工前に建設予定地を調査したところ、空港計画敷地内に洞穴を発見。中から人間の頭、脚、腕などの骨９点が発見されました。これらの内、最古の人骨は今から約２万６千年前のもので日本国内において最古の人骨と発表されています。この発見は石垣島には旧石器時代から数千年間も人々が暮らし続けてきたという証です。今年のFREEFOWLSはこの事に注目して「石垣島は遥か旧石器時代からのビーチリゾートの島でした。」というテーマでデザインしました。SONTAPARI 【ソンタパリ】というのは遺跡が発見された地名「竿根田原」の方言読み。通常島では「ソネタバル」と呼ばれている小字(こあざ)住所の場所ですが洞穴の発見が沖縄本島の発掘チームだったために「サオネタバル」という地元では馴染みのない名前で正式登録されています。遺跡は空港敷地内ということもあって現在は見学等できませんが将来的には島民や観光のお客様にも公開される日が来るかもしれません。そんな島の大発見をデザインしたＴシャツです。

In 2007, during an investigation of the construction site of the new Ishigaki airport, the team found a cave , they found 9 pieces of human bones including a skull. After a thorough research, it was announced that these bones were over 26000 years old which is the oldest bones found in Japan. This proves that humans were living on this beautiful island from the old stone ages. FREE FOWLS decided to focus on this topic and created a theme named, “Ishigaki island was a beach resort from the old stone age.”　SONTAPARI is the local dialect of the address of the cave, usually called SONETABARU by the locals. However the research team was from main island Okinawa and could not read the unique reading of the address and registered the discovery location, SAONETABARU. The location is within the airport and cannot be visited at this time but maybe someday the location may be released to locals and tourists. This design reflects the big discovery of our island.
